Yoga Nidra or “yogic sleep” is both a practice and a state of consciousness.

The practice of yoga nidra involves a guided rest meditation that is generally practiced laying down. The state of consciousness that the practice is designed to guide you towards is somewhere between waking and sleeping, where deep healing is known to occur.

To prepare for your practice, ensure you are well fed and watered. Then, create the coziest and most comfortable and cozy nest you can imagine on a yoga mat, carpet, bed or couch. I recommend gathering pillows, blankets, and an eye covering. Typically, body temperature will drop in this practice, so you want to be as warm as you can.

If laying down is iaccessible or uncofortable for any reason, you can practice sitting up. I recommend leaning against a support in this case, like a wall with a pillow for cushioning.

The yoga nidra practices typically have a theme or intention described in the title - choose what feels most nourishing for you right now.

💝 These practices are my gift to you. If they’ve been supportive to you, please share them with someone who may benefit from deep rest.
